“Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds; For riches are not forever, Nor does a crown endure to all generations” (Proverbs 27:23-24 NKJV). Man’s dependency upon animals calls for attention to their care. Even though “natural brute beasts [are] made to be caught and destroyed” (2 Peter 2:12 NKJV), humans should not mistreat animals. Many murderers, as children, mistreated animals. Animals are made to sacrificially give benefit to humans. “The lambs will provide your clothing, And the goats the price of a field; You shall have enough goats’ milk for your food, For the food of your household, And the nourishment of your maidservants” (Proverbs 27:26-27 NKJV). It is a foolish rancher who neglects or hurts his herds. “A righteous man regards the life of his animal” (Proverbs 12:10 NKJV). Respect for God’s Creation shows respect toward God.
