On January 7, 2016, Edward Archer shot and wounded a Philadelphia policeman. Archer was wearing a Muslim cloak, confessed he did this “in the name of Islam;” and his mother said he was a Muslim. But Philadelphia Mayor, James Kenney, said: “In no way, shape or form does anyone in this room believe that what was done represents Islam.” There are people who are “willfully ignorant” (2 Peter 3:5), that is, they refuse to see, or admit to, the facts. Peter was discussing “scoffers” who reject the abundant evidence for the world-wide flood in Noah’s day, but this applies to anyone who willfully refuses to accept plain truth. Jesus Christ said, “He who believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mark 16:16 NKJV), and the willfully ignorant will claim “baptism has nothing whatever to do with salvation.” Jesus said, “if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” (Matthew 15:14 NKJV).
