“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed” (Genesis 2:24-25 NKJV). God created Adam, then Eve, and this was the first and last time that nakedness was of no concern. A hetero-sexual marriage relationship should be so open, a husband and wife “become one flesh.” Since sin entered the world, and Adam and Eve were put out of the Garden of Eden, “shame” has always been associated with nakedness outside of marriage. “None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to him, to uncover his nakedness: I am the LORD” (Leviticus 18:6 NKJV). God’s people sinned, so God would “uncover your skirts over your face, That your shame may appear” (Jeremiah 13:25-26 NKJV). To be naked in public is shameful!
