“Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea” (1 Corinthians 10:1-2 NKJV). Paul wrote this to the church “with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours” (1 Corinthians 1:2 NKJV). Since “many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized” (Acts 18:8 NKJV), and “the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47 NKJV), God adds no one to the church before obeying His Gospel. No Israelite could claim freedom from Egypt before, and without, being “baptized into Moses.” So, no Corinthian could claim freedom from sin and membership in the church before, and without, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. If not, why not?
