“As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving” (Colossians 2:6-7 NKJV). To “receive Jesus,” a person must be “taught” “in the faith.” Paul wrote, “we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God” (1 Thessalonians 4:1 NKJV). If the Thessalonians had “received Jesus” apart from Scripture, why did Paul need to write Scripture to them to tell them how “to walk and to please God?” Paul warned to: “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men” (Colossians 2:8 NKJV). “Receive Jesus” the Scriptural way, not by man-made traditional teaching.
