“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken. Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned (Psalm 34:19-21 NKJV). David wrote this after he was spared from Achish, king of Gath (1 Samuel 21:13-15). Persecutions Paul endured, because “out of them all the Lord delivered me” (2 Timothy 3:11 NKJV). When Jesus was crucified, and the soldiers “came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs” (John 19:33 NKJV), then Psalm 34:20 proved true! Also true is that people doing evil “hate the righteous,” and “all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12 NKJV). God delivers, not from suffering, but forever!
