3-24-2015 Man-Made Tradition: Religious Seasons

In Lystra, Paul told idolaters that God “did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness” (Acts 14:17 NKJV). After the Flood in Noah’s day, yearly seasonal cycles were ordained when God said, “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease” (Genesis 8:22 NKJV). But when Galatian Christians made seasons religious observances, Paul wrote, “You observe days and months and seasons and years. I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain” (Galatians 4:10-11 NKJV). They were turning the way of Christ back “again to the weak and beggarly elements” from which they had escaped by obeying Christ (Galatians 4:9 NKJV).
