In Luke 9:51-56, Jesus intended to go to Jerusalem and passed through a Samaritan village, and “they did not receive Him.” His disciples, James and John, wanted to “command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them.” “But He turned and rebuked them, and said, ‘You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them‘” (Luke 9:55-56 NKJV). The Apostles learned that there is no such thing as a “Christian Crusade.” People have grossly perverted Jesus’ teaching who justify such, and reporters have grossly misrepresented Jesus Christ who speak of “Christian Crusades.” Jesus’ kingdom is “not of this world,” (John 18:36). The Gospel of Jesus Christ converts willing souls, but does not “destroy men’s lives.”
