When the “scribes and Pharisees” brought to Jesus “a woman caught in adultery,” Jesus said, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first” (John 8:3-7 NKJV). Many mistakenly believe that Jesus condemned all judging of sinful behavior. They were under Moses’ Law, which commanded that both the adulterer and the adulteress should be put to death (Leviticus 20:10). Since they had brought only the woman, they had violated God’s Law as she had. They were, therefore, in no position to condemn her adultery for they had wrongly dealt with it. Jesus’ statement convicted their conscience, for they “went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last” (John 8:9 NKJV). He told her to “sin no more” (John 8:11 NKJV). It is not wrong to reveal sin with Scripture!
