8-30-2016 The Savior’s Exception

“It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And immediately, coming up from the water, He saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending upon Him like a dove. Then a voice came from heaven, ‘You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased’” (Mark 1:9-11 NKJV).   1) Since John was “baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins” (Mark 1:4 NKJV), Jesus had made Himself the exception, since He had no sins (Matthew 3:15).  No one else can be saved before being baptized! 2) After His baptism God declared pleasure in Jesus’ obedience.  Today, God blesses after baptism, not before, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ” (Galatians 3:27 NKJV).
