9-28-2017 Salvation Is Not Miraculous

Salvation is not a miraculous act of the Holy Spirit upon a sinner’s heart. After Jesus was raised from the dead, He stated: “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:16 NKJV). No one can be saved without hearing and obeying what Jesus said. Saul of Tarsus was making “havoc of the church” of Christ (Acts 8:3 NKJV) when Jesus appeared to him and said, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” (Acts 9:4 NKJV). Saul asked, “Lord, what do you want me to do?” Jesus told him to “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do” (Acts 9:6 NKJV). Jesus did not tell Saul what to do. Saul was not saved on the Damascus road. Saul had to believe, and be baptized to be saved! And so must you.
