The United States Senate rejected an abortion amendment, thus putting the entire bill in jeopardy.
The Washington Post reports:
The measure, which failed 54-45, addressed the scope of restrictions on coverage of abortion services for people who receive subsidies to buy insurance.
Pro-life supporters say that this is “an accounting scheme to hide government-funded abortions.”
Pro-choice Senators are jockeying for position so they can get their name on an amendment or to be credited with getting the final bill passed. Lining up to get blood on their hands is a rather strange thing in which to be proud. We can only hope that the abortion funding will be removed from the health care bill that ultimately is accepted into law.
