Barricades to Heaven

Across our land recently barricades were erected to keep citizens out of government-owned property, and even some that was not government-owned. Imagine being a veteran who fought for our great country, being flown to Washington to see your own memorial for the first time,  only to arrive to find a barricade with “Closed” on it.  I have to admit to feeling a sense of pride upon hearing those men and women pushed on through, letting nothing stop them from seeing the memorial for which they fought, and many of their friends died.

The scriptures teach there are barricades that will keep us from entering heaven. Let’s look specifically at Galatians 5:19-21.

  • The barricade of sexual immorality
  • The barricade of impurity
  • The barricade of sensuality
  • The barricade of idolatry
  • The barricade of sorcery
  • The barricade of enmity
  • The barricade of strife
  • The barricade of jealousy
  • The barricade of fits of anger
  • The barricade of rivalries
  • The barricade of dissensions
  • The barricade of divisions
  • The barricade of envy
  • The barricade of drunkenness
  • The barricade of orgies, and things like these.

“I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5:21 ESV).

We know that a lack of obedience to the gospel of Christ will barricade us from heaven, as well as unfaithful attendance.

Heaven has no barricades for the faithful child of God to keep us from entering. We are invited, wanted, and a great price has been paid for our arrival…the blood of Christ. Someone has rightfully said, “Heaven is a prepared place for a prepared people.”
