Bible Reading – 2 Corinthians 13

As Paul gives some final word to the Corinthians, let us take note of two points. First, Paul was rather pointed when he said that each needs to take inventory with respect to their own spirituality (13:5). Indeed this is something that each of us need to do even today. When we begin to feel strong about ourselves – to the point of dismissing another servant – it is then (if not before) that we need to take inventory. A second point worth notice is his encouraging word. In our English Bible, it took four chapters to share with us Paul’s disappointment with some of the Corinthians. Still, as he closes he gives five briefs exhortations (as read in the NET): “Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice, set things right, be encouraged, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.”
