The Accusations Against Paul (24:1-9). The Jewish leaders, along with an attorney named Tertullus, brought formal charges against Paul to Felix. Tertullus accused Paul of stirring up riots and desecrating the temple. He even described Paul as a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.
Paul’s Defense Before Felix (24:10-23). As Paul makes his defense before Felix, he pleads innocent of all charges. However, he confessed (1) to worshiping God according to the Way, (2) his belief in everything written in the law and the prophets, and (3) his hope of a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Paul Speaks Repeatedly to Felix (24:24-27). Felix heard Paul speak about faith in Christ Jesus, righteousness, self-control, and the coming judgment.
Practical Lessons: (1) We, like Paul, can have confidence in a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. (2) Faith in Christ Jesus includes righteousness, self-control, and a coming judgment.
