I. He is not here (16:1-8). Was there an expectation that He would live again – though the Lord had spoken words along this line before He died? Not on this day! Both women named Mary are dumbfounded by this, but Mary Magdalene stooped and asked the gardener for assistance; the Lord calls out her name.
II. The great commission (16:9-20). Imagine the emotions of this woman, but not her only, but also the other woman named Mary. One is known, but both were present. But greater than that occasion was the commission that His disciple were to tell everyone everywhere.
