In reading Job, I can’t help but notice the communication that is NOT taking place. Job is in anguish, and he does not understand why. The friends of Job understand perfectly well, and they attempt to help Job understand. When Job hears, he rejects their accusations and insinuations. From that point there is “crosstalk.” Crosstalk is a method of communication that does not result in much that is productive. When one speaks what is on the heart, many times the other person interprets and replies to what he (she) thought what was said, not really hearing all that was said.

The Scripture says it is good to hear more and speak less. In the context of those words, it applies to hearing Scripture more, speak less, and by all means get upset even less. Yet, from that passage, we can learn much in how to properly communicate.
