Did you know Esther did something for you?
Did you know Queen Esther – yes that Queen Esther – did something for you?
After Mordecai and Esther exchange some serious messages about the newly legislated Persian law concerning the Jews and the seriousness of inviting one’s self into King Ahasuerus’ presence, the Bible says:
“Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”” (Esther 4:15-16 NKJV)
Do you see what she did for you? She may not have realized it, but we can! She put her neck on the line for you, for me and for every brother and sister in Christ that you know.
Now you might be thinking that she did what she did for the Jews. And if you are, I suppose you’re right. I definitely cannot say you are wrong. But it wasn’t for the Jews only!
Let me explain what I am saying by asking you a question – if the Jews (which were the sole descendants of Isaac, the son of promise to Abraham) had been completely destroyed per Haman’s “legalized” plans, what would have happened to Matthew 1:12-22? To put it as plainly as I can – it would not have been written because those people would not have existed! But it was written, and those people did exist because of God’s grace filled providence and because of Esther’s willingness to do what she did when it came to overcoming Haman’s plan, which would ultimately one day lead to the fulfillment of God’s promise to bless the world through Abraham’s seed.
And now you know, if you’re a Christian, what Esther did for you.
“And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” … Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ. … For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:8,16,26-29 NKJV)
