Edifier: Close but not in

In Mark 12:28-34 Jesus taught a great lesson about the possibility of being close to the kingdom but not in the kingdom. A nameless scribe came to Jesus and asked, “Which is the first commandment of all?” Jesus answered him in verses 29-31 and the scribe said to Jesus, Well said, Teacher.  He then proceeded to complete his answer through verse 33 and when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.”

While it is good to be close to the kingdom, the rewards which are offered to those who serve the Lord are reserved for those who are IN THE KINGDOM!  There are millions of good people who produce good fruit from the human view, and yet they are not Christians. They are good citizens, neighbors, friends, fathers, mothers, children, and yet they are not Christians because they are only CLOSE to the kingdom. There are some whom I have studied with who are fully aware of the necessity of obedience to the Lord in order to be in the kingdom, but they remain OUTSIDE the kingdom because of a lack of obedience.

If you are reading this and you are simply CLOSE to God’s kingdom and not IN God’s kingdom, won’t you consider seriously the fact that CLOSENESS is not enough? Won’t you consider the lesson that Jesus taught in MATT. 7:21-23 where He clearly teaches that only THOSE WHO DO THE WILL OF THE FATHER IN HEAVEN are going to enter the kingdom of heaven?  If we can help you please let us know. We have people there near you in Romania who would be happy to study with you and help you to move from OUTSIDE  the kingdom to INSIDE  the kingdom.

May God bless you this week. We love and miss you very much.

With Much Love,

Ted & Barbara
