This is Just-a-minute with Ed Boggess. The Georgia Fraternal Order of Police sponsored a contest for the “wildest excuse ever” by traffic violators. One entry was “my husband wasn’t speeding. I always have him drive slow when he’s drunk.” Another: “I was trying to get home before I ran out of gas.” Another: “I was in church when they started to pass the plate and I realized I forgot my wallet. I’m trying to get home and back to church.” But the winner was: “I’m trying to lose weight. The faster I drive, the more afraid I become and that helps burn calories.” But the bottom line is an excuse is nothing more than a lie wrapped in tissue paper!
