Fat's where it's at? No! Thin is in! – JAM

This is Just-a-minute with Ed Boggess. America is fat! There is no denying it. Evidently we believe “fat’s where it’s at!” And according to the USA Today, researchers at Columbia University Medical Center in New York found that the majority of mothers and children who are overweight see themselves as substantially lighter than they are (I suspect that if men were in the survey, they would think the same!). In the study 111 mothers and 111 children were shown body silhouettes representing thin, normal, overweight, obese and extreme obesity. 66% were either overweight or obese, but when asked about themselves, a large majority underestimated their weight and saw themselves as less heavy than they were. What difference does it make? Gluttony is still as much a sin as drunkenness, theft or adultery; whether in men, women or children. It is time to take a stand and let it be declared – “thin is in.”
