Feb. 1. Jesus Heals A Leper

Mt. 8:1-4; Mk. 1:40-45; Lk. 5:12-16

One of the most dreaded diseases of that day and even much earlier was leprosy. It was a disease of the skin and in the advanced stages, the flesh of a person would even fall off the bones. Our sins have been compared to leprosy.

There was such a person full of leprosy or in the last stages who came to Jesus. In faith, he fell on his face and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Jesus put out His hand and touched the leper and said, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy left him. Since they were still living under the Law of Moses, he was instructed to go to the priest as Moses had commanded.
