Rising Joy by Vicki Matheny
The Lord is good – indeed, he is a fortress in time of distress, and he protects those who seek refuge in him. Nahum 1.7
What is your concept of God? Do you believe that he exists? Do you take refuge in him and his word? Or do you believe that he is a fairy tale that someone made up to explain the impossible? Do you believe that he is a crutch to lean on when you need him, but when you are well, you can set him aside?
God is the creator, Genesis 1. He created everything in this universe. Even as the creator, he did not make us as robots who had to obey him. He gave us the choice of whether or not to obey him.
God is powerful and slow to anger, Nahum 1.3. In the Old Testament, you can read accounts of nations that God would not destroy because their sinfulness had not reached its peak. He wants nothing more than for man to repent of his sinfulness, 2 Peter 3.9.
God is love, 1 John 4.8. He showed you how to love by sending his son to die for you as a sacrifice for your sins even while you were still enemies, Romans 5.10. He made the way back to him possible.
God is good!
