How to distinguish

There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siegeworks against it. Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded. (Ecclesiastes 9:14-16 NIV)

O LORD my God, thank you, dear Father, in heaven for your crystal clear and warm and kind grace with mercy that is readily available to anyone who trusts and obeys your beloved Son as Lord and Savior. Grant us the wisdom of Christ as we search the Scriptures for answers on how to distinguish between righteous and unrighteous people who at first seem to show themselves as strong in faith. Help your children of faith to prefer the wisdom of Christ over measly human strength that never lasts long enough to be of much true value. Show us the way home dear Lord as we develop the courage to always follow the right way over the wrong way – that at first glance appears right. We pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
