This is Just-A-Minute with Ed Boggess. Poland now claims the world’s largest statue of Jesus, since its completion last November (2010). Including the foundation on which it sits, it rises majestically 167 feet above the small town of Swiebodzin, the grandiose dream of local priest, Sylwester Zawadzki. The previous record holder was Rio de Janiero’s 125 foot Jesus. The 78-year-old priest hopes that the statue will bring needed revenue to the town of 22,000 through tourists and pilgrims’ visits. I suspect that there will be a stream of folks coming to visit the Polish town and view the statue, but I won’t be one of them. I have nothing against the whole affair, but I see a clearer image of Jesus every day in the lives of those who love Him and order their lives according to His will.
