In Acts 11:26 God gave a name for the followers of Jesus, the name Christians. Some say it was given in derision by the enemies of Christ. But I don’t believe that for a minute. The word used for “called” is invariably used in scripture for a divine call. What that means is the name Christian is God-chosen, heaven-approved and Spirit-inspired. Any name other than that name is a wrong name and any name more is too much. James asked, “do they not blaspheme that worthy name by which you are called?” If that worthy name is not the name Christian, then pray tell what name could it have been? This is Just-A-Minute.
