It seems spiritual health–like physical health–is connected to exercise (cf. 1 Tim. 4:8). We should all be “trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil” (Heb. 5:14). Do we think of our souls in terms of “constant practice”? Or, is Christianity more an occasional activity? Can someone who absents himself from worship on Sunday (or Wednesday) night honestly claim the gospel is his “constant practice”?
