When some people think of royalty, thoughts of disdain soon follow.
Royalty talks while the common man works. Royalty lives in a nice mansion while the common man strives to keep a water-proof roof over his head. Royalty feasts while the common man knows the pain of hunger. Royalty receives the best medical treatment while the common man often deals with simple sicknesses. Royalty is buried with the greatest of honors while the common man may pass without a single tear.
Over and over again we could display the difference between the royalty that has nothing in common with the common man, and such is the reason for the oft-found feeling of contempt.
But the above cannot be said of King Jesus!
He was born in a stable, worked with his hands, lived in a small town, was familiar with hunger, took upon himself the illnesses of others, rode on the colt of a donkey, had no cup-bearer to test his drink, was spit on, beaten, mocked, crucified and were it not for the generosity of another there would have been no prepared resting place for his body.
No sir, Jesus was not your everyday king – he was a king for eternity. He’s a king that deserves the honor and glory, for this king knew what every day life was like, and he bore it all so we could live in paradise with him eternally.
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
