God commanded Abram to leave his country and family and go to a land that He would show him. He made a bold promise to Abram, whose wife was unable to bear children. Among other blessings, God said, “I will make you a great nation…and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Abram, through faith obeyed God and began a new life at seventy-five years of age. He gathered his possessions and servants and left Haran with his wife and nephew, Lot and traveled to the land of Canaan.
Because of famine in the land, Abram continued into Egypt. He was treated well by Pharaoh and amassed great riches. Through a series of events, he was expelled from Egypt.
