An Anderson County, S.C., sheriff’s deputy was temporarily sidelined by his boss after the officer’s pistol went off during a gun safety class at a middle school. At the time the deputy was showing the kids how hard it was to take a gun from an officer’s holster. He offered to let one of the students try. Apparently the weapon discharged when the chosen student accidentally pulled the trigger. Fortunately, the bullet missed the officer’s foot and fired into the floor. No one was injured. I’m sure the deputy thought he was being careful and was embarrassed by the outcome. But it should serve to remind us that as James 3:2 says, “We all stumble in many things.” It is so easy to lose focus and before you know it, you’ve done something you are ashamed of. This is Just-A-Minute.
