I was recently asked, “Who is faithful?” It is a good question. It is one we should think about and try to answer. My first thought is 1 John 1:7 “If we walk in the light . . .” But who is walking in the light. As I continue reading 1 John I discover that John defines who is walking in the light and who is not throughout the rest of 1 John. And if I were to point to a key passage it would have to be 3:7, 8 “Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” It is a question not of how perfectly one practices righteousness, but a question of whose side you are on. We are either living for Jesus, however imperfectly; or we are not and therefore of the devil. At least that is what it seems to me to be saying. I could always be wrong, I have been often. This is Just-A-Minute.
