The CDC reported its highest ever number of deadly drug overdoses in the United States for a twelve month period that ended in May, 2020 … over 81,000 people!
The Covid pandemic no doubt has had an affect on these numbers but, as the report acknowledges, the sad numbers were already on the increase before the full effect of the pandemic.
The American culture, with the blessing of many hollow-hearted politicians who are crafting and passing laws that decriminalize the use of addictive drugs, is becoming ever-increasingly acceptive of drug use. These politicians do not care about the lives, the families or the souls of the general public and the proof is seen in their legislative agenda despite the talking-point lip-service.
People laud the use of many recreational and prescription drugs but many of these people profit off the drug use while the users are stuck with the abuse when the recreational and medicinal purposes end and the addiction begins!
Legalizing addictions make them no less dangerous, and if the American culture and the American politician could understand this fact then, and only then, will we truly be on the road to recovery.
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20 NKJV)
