Leviticus 23

  1. This chapter is probably one of two chapters that are known best in Leviticus (the other being C-16). Whether it is or not, it is an important summary chapter of the festive occasions the Lord wanted Israel to observe. There are six festive occasions: the Passover, the Feast of Firstfruits, the Feast of Weeks (otherwise known as Pentecost), the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the Feast of Booths.
  2. Application: There are two important points in this chapter for our consideration. First, the Lord brings His people together in accordance with His will. This corresponds to the new covenant teaching of the saints gathering regularly (Hebrews 10:19-26). Second, related to this is the important concept of fellowship. People of like mind strengthen and encourage others (as they themselves are strengthened and encouraged).
