Deuteronomy 28 is probably a well-known chapter of blessings and cursing’s, and we have the same thing here in C-26. The chapter is easy to understand; the Lord will bless His children if they walk faithful to Him, not departing from the way He set forth (26:1-13). However, if they do not listen, then the Lord will “rain” His wrath upon them “seven-fold.” In fact, if they continue their apostate path, they will be evacuated from the land, and we know this occurred via captivity (26:14-39). On the other hand, if there is a penitent heart, the Lord will not be far away. If they confess their sins, then the Lord will remember His covenant (26:40-46). Some applications are just obvious.
