Mt. 24:29-51; Mk. 13:21-37; Lk. 21:25-36
After explaining the events surrounding the destruction of Jerusalem, Jesus described His final coming. He stated that there will be false Christ’s appearing and making claims. There will be an upheaval of the heavenly bodies, “and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
Jesus’ coming will be sudden and unexpected like that of a thief. He warned and admonished the apostles to always be ready because no one knows the day and hour that He is returning—neither the angels nor Himself.
One must prepare for death in the same manner as for the coming of Christ at the end of time. Death IS the end of time for those who die before His return.
