Happy birthday, Mike Brooks

My good friend, Mike Brooks, celebrates a birthday today. We thank God for his faith and work and pray the Lord may bless him and his family in every good way.

I’ve known Mike and his good wife Brenda since the early 80s, possibly as early as 1980. We worked together in 1984, when he was serving with the Center Hill congregation in Paragould AR and I was preparing for Brazil. Mike and my dad used to hunt deer together.

Since 1999, Mike has spent about six months of every year in Nepal and Bangladesh, focusing especially on training people for ministry. He is sponsored by the Highland Park congregation in Muscle Shoals AL.

He and I have had several writing projects which we’ve not gotten finished. May God give us the grace to complete our collaboration. I would be honored to be a co-author of his.

We are honored to have Mike as a columnist for Forthright Magazine. He writes Field Notes on Saturdays, almost always with an example or background from Asia. His writing enlightens us in terms of culture, ministry, and Scripture.

Mike is author of In Search of Perfection, on the book of Job. It is distributed by our own Forthright Press. The book makes a great study for Bible classes and women’s groups. We highly recommend it to you.

Lord willing, we hope to see Mike and Brenda this weekend at the Maywood Missionary Retreat (y’all come), and we’ll give him our personal greeting and hug.
