She was born in a family of 18 children and never had much. She married her prince and soon learned he wasn’t what he had pretended while they were courting. Her daddy said, “If you make your bed hard, you have to lay on it,” so she knew she couldn’t go back home. She stuck the marriage out, through thick and thin, for 55 years. She always taught us that “you may not have much, but you have your character and if you’ll keep it clean you’ll be all right. You’re as good as anybody else.” She is a lot like the worthy woman in Proverbs 31. We’ve never heard her have a “pity-party.” She’s quite a mother. Oh, how I love her.
