My Favorite Bible character: Mary, the mother of our Lord

I’ve often said I want to meet Mary. God chose her to be the mother of His son. She was special. She was a virgin. She was engaged to Joseph when the angel Gabriel came and told her she was highly favoured, that the Lord was with her and she would be blessed among women, that she was chosen by God to conceive and bring forth a son, Jesus, the Son of the Highest. She listened. She was troubled at his sayings. She questioned how this could be seeing since she knew not a man. She was receptive. She was humbled and acceptive of her new role. “And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her” (Luke 1:38). To be a handmaid (female servant) of the Lord….what an honor..
