I use most the Portuguese Nova Versão Internacional, based loosely on the NIV, although it deals with some of the criticism of the English version, like “flesh/sinful nature” in the book of Romans. It’s a bit more literal than the English as well, but much more readable than the versions that use antiquated language that are so predominant here.
In English I also grew up on the KJV, then moved to ASV, NASV, and from there to a multi-version approach. The English version I most use today is the NET and I second what Ron said about it. I’m growing in my appreciation for the NLT, but later today I’ll show on my website one of its worst renderings.
