A sobering thought: With his staunch religious views, Washington might very well be unelectable to national office today and, were he to be nominated for the Supreme Court, the vile opposition of liberal Democrats would know no bounds to prevent it. He may be the “father” of our country, but I don’t think he would claim the country’s “children” on Capitol Hill now.
