Not to me only: 2 Timothy 4.8 VOTD

“Finally the crown of righteousness is reserved for me. The Lord, the righteous Judge, will award it to me in that day—and not to me only, but also to all who have set their affection on his appearing.”

2 Timothy 4.8

At life’s end, the apostle Paul fully expects his eternal reward from Christ. He knows it is available to all, not only to a special class of people. He connects receiving it with Christ’s return, not with his impending death.

“Set their affection” is literally “love.” How do we show our love for Jesus’ appearing again?
