Ps. 92:1-15; 149:1-150:6
As our journey reaches the end of the psalms, we continue to see the emphasis placed upon praise and thanksgiving to God, the Creator of all things. Singing continued to be emphasized by the writer. Worship to God is foolishness to the wicked and their works of iniquity will eventually be destroyed. The righteous will be edified, grow, flourish and bear much fruit.
Victory! A televised sports program once had as its introductory theme, “The Thrill of Victory and The Agony of Defeat.” Everyone wants to be the winner, cheer for the winner and celebrate victory with the winner. The psalmist recognized that characteristic when he penned those victorious words of sing, praise, rejoice, joyful, dance, pleasure, beautify, honor and salvation. “Praise the Lord.!”
The final psalm reached a climax of praise to God. God dwells in heaven, on earth and even under the earth. He is everywhere. Wherever one might be, he is to praise Him for His mighty acts and excellent greatness. It is only through Him that we can exist. Many kinds of musical instruments were used at that time to praise Him. “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
