Nov. 3. Opposition of Temple Restoration

Ez. 5:2-17

As Zerubbabel and Jeshua/Joshua and their team of workers continued in the reconstruction of God’s temple, opposition also continued. Tattenai, the governor of a neighboring region and his associates came to determine who had authorized the people to rebuild the structure. They also took names to further intimidate the people.

When the builders refused to stop their work, Tattenai wrote a letter to King Darius to seek a higher official to prohibit their mission. He asked the king to search for the decree of Cyrus to determine if Zerubbabel really had authority to rebuild the temple. We also must remain strong in the face of opposition.
