It has been said, “Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity. They seem to be more afraid of life than death” (James Byrnes). There is no context to these words; I suspect they have to do with ambition in a material world. Security is important in a material world, but what good will security in a material world be (or do) for a person who has no security in the spiritual realm? Of course, to ask is to answer.
There are a lot of people who are frightened by failure in life; consequently, these people are not risk-takers. On the other hand, those who are risk-takers make great progress toward an ultimate end. In the material realm this may be good.
In the spiritual realm there is no room for risk-takers; the Lord has already set the path for us to walk. His is the only risk faithful Christians will take. Consider Jesus all over again in this light. The price He paid was great, but He willingly paid it. Those of us who took advantage of the opportunity He gave, already live a life full of risk. RT
