As many of you may have heard, the Washington, DC / Northern VA / Maryland area just got hammered with 2 feet of snow, with another 12-20 inches expected to start today. The morning skies are not looking friendly. They are red and white. Road crews have been unable to complete the dig out, and power companies haven’t finished either. Tens of thousands of people are still without power, roads are treacherous, and many elderly are alone, with no way to get food or medicine. With 2+’ of snow, ambulances cannot get into residential areas in the event of heart attack or other life threatening situation. Heating fuel is also low, and the delivery companies aren’t taking calls. We were fortunate that we were only without power 24 hours and were able to get out finally last evening and pick up some supplies. That’s the first time we’ve been able to get out of the house since Friday. We at least have a small amount of fuel left, and we are reserving it for power outage only and relying just on electric at this point. Those of us who can are doing our part to check on our neighbors and help where we can. As far as I know, all members of our congregation are fine and have power. We need to call more and check on those who don’t hang out online. I will do that today.
We are praying hard for the situation here. Please pray with us. James 5:16
