Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. (2 Corinthians 7:9-10 NKJV)
O LORD my God, thank you for your amazing grace and mercy on this new day! Restore the joy and hope in the hearts of those dear souls who languish in godly sorrow over sin as they cry out to you for mercy and forgiveness with sincere repentance. Help us to throw off the heavy weight of sin through repentance that brings forgiveness by the blood of Christ our Lord. Wash away any regrets over the loss of any so-called joys of this world. Give wisdom and courage to all who preach the gospel so that the poor in spirit will always hear a call to repent. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
Those of you who regularly read this WORD OF THE DAY devotionals are aware of our commitment to helping spread the gospel in the Former Soviet Union – especially in the independent nations of Ukraine and Russia. To that end, thanks to some room on a credit card, we have our “ducks in a row” (doctors put on hold, guest preachers, tickets, teaching materials shipped ahead) for this upcoming journey for the Lord. God willing, we depart from Orlando to Kyiv, this coming Monday 8.5.2019. Then after a train ride to the east of Ukraine, we’ll be on the ground in Slavyansk by Wednesday. Thanks for every prayer!!! We are due back on September 5, 2019.
