Summer camp – JAM

I remember one of the highlights of every summer growing up was attending church camp. Then when I was a young preacher, I directed church camp each summer. But now according to an August 11 USA Today report only one in four young people participate in any summer camp. Apparently they are saying, “Good-bye church; we are too busy with Facebook!” Many churches have dropped their summer camps. Here at the Winchester Church of Christ we enjoyed one of our best camps ever, but we understand the trend is against us. What does the future hold? That is largely up to parents. If parents grasp the importance of spiritual development and making close ties with others who respect and fallow Christian values, Christian youth camps will thrive.
