1-19-2017 Unashamed Living In Mark 8:38 NKJV Jesus…

1-19-2017-Unashamed Living
In Mark 8:38 NKJV, Jesus said: “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” An “adulterous and sinful generation” should be ashamed. In John 8:12 NKJV, Jesus said: “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’” When sinners should be ashamed, but are not, Christians must not be ashamed, but often are! Paul said in 2 Timothy 1:12 NKJV: “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.” Sin is shameful, obeying Jesus Christ is not!

6-2-2015 A Shameless Existence

There is no reason to be ashamed, if we obey God. David said, “You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently. Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes! Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments” (Psalm 119:4-6 NKJV). “Let my heart be blameless regarding Your statutes, That I may not be ashamed” (Psalm 119:80 NKJV). The sinners who condemn Christians and Bible-believers are the one who should be ashamed! David also said, “Let the proud be ashamed, For they treated me wrongfully with falsehood” (Psalm 119:78 NKJV). “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20 NKJV). No one is wrong who serves God.

Confession is good for the soul…

Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they were not confessing Him, for fear that they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the approval of men rather than the approval of God. (John 12:42-43)

The words in bold above are thirteen of the most haunting words of Scripture, in my opinion. These men refused to do what they knew was right because they wanted to maintain high status at their local congregation. Sometimes we ourselves are tempted to allow worldly values to corrupt the purity of the gospel; other times we fail to defend the bride of Christ when people slander her; still other times we fail to speak up in the name of Jesus when we know what we ought to say. This we do because we are ashamed. We put stock in the opinions of other people, and we are afraid we will lose rank in their eyes if we express our faith in Jesus Christ. Therefore, we do not confess what we know to be the truth. God have mercy upon us!

I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (Romans 1:16)

God, help those of us with genuine faith in Jesus Christ to find ways as often as possible to share the gospel, defend the Lord’s church, and resist the devil’s attempts to water down her doctrine with ungodly cultural values. We care not what man thinks of us–only You, our God.
