    12-21-2016 Fake Divisions Of Faith

“Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed. But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren” (Acts 14:1-2 NKJV).  Preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ is effective, but not everyone will be converted.  “Unbelieving Jews,” who are Jews who refuse to believe that Jesus is the Christ, and therefore reject the New Testament, caused most of the city to be “divided: part sided with the Jews, and part with the apostles” (Acts 14:4 NKJV).  It’s easy to create confusion in peoples’ minds though the Gospel is clear and understandable. “The brethren” are now called “Christians” (Acts 11:26 NKJV).  The Christians were not divided, but the public opinion about them was. Only accept the Apostles’ New Testament!

    12-16-2016 Getting Jesus Right-No Mass

The New Testament writers, “did not follow cunningly devised fables” (2 Peter 1:16 NKJV) when they wrote about Jesus Christ.  A “fable” is a “myth, fairy tale, or falsehood.” “Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle” (2 Thessalonians 2:15 NKJV).  A “tradition” is “a practice handed down, or passed along,” so Christian “traditions” must come from the Apostles, themselves.  No “tradition,” then, that cannot be found in God’s New Testament, should be practiced by Christians, for “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17 NKJV).  In the New Testament, Christians did not: 1) celebrate Jesus’ birth; 2) say He was born during some pagan time change of seasons; 3) mix up Bible events; 4) mix Bible records with myths or fairy tales! Take Christ out of the mess of “Mass!”

    10-24-2016 Making Worse Get Better

“Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived” (2 Timothy 3:12-13 NKJV).  Christians will be persecuted, because the wicked won’t change by themselves.

    1) “Evil” in mankind is described by David: “Deliver me, O LORD, from evil men; Preserve me from violent men, Who plan evil things in their hearts; They continually gather together for war. They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; The poison of asps is under their lips” (Psalm 140:1-3 NKJV).  2) “Imposters” are people who live by their art of deception.  Paul told Timothy how to deal with such: “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching” (2 Timothy 4:2).  The wicked get worse if we don’t openly teach the Bible!

    10-7-2016 There Are No Judeo-Christians

“Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law” (Galatians 5:2-3 NKJV). Clearly, Christians must not go back to Moses for their religious duties.  There are people who claim to preach Jesus, believe in Jesus, and obey Jesus, but add the obligations of Moses.  They must: 1) be like Jews, keeping all of Moses: 10 commandments, fleshly circumcision, animal sacrifices, religious feasts and days; and 2) know their “Christian faith” amounts to nothing!  Paul said, “if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain” (Galatians 2:21 NKJV).  Jesus took Moses’ Law “out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:14 NKJV).  Celebrating any of that “old law” today rejects the cross of God’s Only Begotten Son!

    9-30-2016 God Exists 2

Without the God of the Bible, no one can explain:

    1) The Creation: Of world-wide oceans, God “fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors; When I said, ‘This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!’” (Job 38:10-11 NKJV); 2) The Bible: After all efforts to ignore or destroy it, “the word of the LORD endures forever” (1 Peter 1:25 NKJV); 3) Jesus Christ: God in the flesh, “humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name” (Philippians 2:8-9 NKJV); 4) Christians: “who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator” (1 Peter 4:19 NKJV).  Can “atheism” explain these?

    7-8-2015 Who Is Equal?

According to the Bible, all humans were Created equal, for “the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7 NKJV). All humans have a body and a soul and are above the rest of the animal world. According to Jesus Christ, every “creature” who “believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mark 16:16 NKJV). Each Christian equally becomes “His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10 NKJV). Jesus taught “the kingdom of heaven” is like a man who, in giving talents to his servants, “to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability” (Matthew 25:14-15 NKJV). Humans are only “equal” in Creation and Re-creation, but are not equal in “abilities.”

5-11-2015 What God Is Able To Do

John the Baptist told the Jews, “do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones” (Matthew 3:9). Under the Gospel of Christ, Jews, “if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again” (Romans 11:23). And to Christians, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8). God is able to by-pass the Jews, save obedient Israelites, help Christians serve Him. The issue is never what God is able to do – but what are you willing to do? Jesus said, “He who believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mark 16:16).

    5-12-2015 Who Is A “Christian?” #1

Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch” (Acts 11:25-26 NKJV). Jesus had said “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age Amen” (Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV). Only “disciples” can be called “Christians,” and no “disciples” were saved before they were baptized, according to Jesus Christ. Are you a “Christian?”

Saul of Tarsus was one of those who was called a “Christian.” Saul had not been saved on the road to Damascus, for Jesus had told him to “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do” (Acts 9:6 NKJV). After 3 days, Ananias told Saul to “Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16 NKJV), then “he arose and was baptized” (Acts 9:18 NKJV). Saul was a “Christian.” Are you a “Christian?”

Saul became the Apostle Paul who wrote, “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?” (Romans 6:3-4 NKJV). Since baptism entered the death of Christ Jesus, Paul did not believe he had been saved by prayer before he was baptized or that baptism began his “newness of life.” He believed as he was told, that in baptism, his sins were washed away (Acts 22:16). Paul was a “Christian,” are you?

So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch” (Acts 11:25-26 NKJV).

What “kind” of Christians were they? Jesus Christ said to “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen” (Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV). “Disciples” have been baptized with God’s authority and follow only the authority of Jesus Christ, not man’s. Who has “authorized” your “salvation:” God or man? “Disciples” of Jesus Christ are “Christians” with “one baptism” and “one faith” (Ephesians 4:4-6). Are you a “Christian?”

    4-22-2015 Blasphemers of God's Word

To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled” (Titus 1:15 NKJV). People who are depraved by their own sins, want to believe Jesus had a fleshly relationship with Mary Magdalene: He didn’t. She was not the “woman in the city who was a sinner” that anointed Jesus feet before He died (Luke 7:36-50). She was in the group of women who came to anoint His dead body and found Him raised from the dead (Mark 16:1). That Pharisee, Simon, thought Jesus hypocritically let her display her faith while detesting her: He didn’t. Those who think all Christians are hypocrites are showing their own defilement. They assume Christians are like they are, but they’re not!

    4-3-2015 Who's “Killing Jesus?” #5 – Hypocrites

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame” (Hebrews 6:4-6 NKJV).

These Christians who decide to leave behind their salvation and Jesus Christ are “killing Jesus” in their lives. Some are pretenders who are “ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ” (Jude 4). These must be the “hypocrites” in the church people talk about, because all other Christians are sincerely following in Jesus’ footsteps.

    HUGH’S NEWS & VIEWS

    BROTHER JIM

Over the years I have had the privilege of knowing a number of outstanding Christians—not just great preachers, elders, deacons, college professors, university presidents, religious editors, etc., but ordinary, everyday people whose lives were dedicated to living like Jesus and serving Him with whatever talents they had. This week I want to tell you about one such man. (More …)

(#106) The Proverbs of Solomon 16:10-Governing the Government (#1)

Since God Created humans, only God can provide specific understanding of human behavior. God gave Solomon Divine Wisdom (1 Kings Chapters 3 and 10) to explain what and why behavior is as it is, and Proverbs 10:1-24:34 are randomly written, as if they were Solomon’s judgments about individual cases brought to him, or simply God-given explanations about life. New Testament passages may help see the continuation of Wisdom offered through Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 16:10: “Divination is on the lips of the king; His mouth must not transgress in judgment.”

“Divination,” here, is a word signifying “Divine Judgment.” Surely Solomon should know about this. God had predicted that the Israelites would demand a “king” in time, and that happened (Deuteronomy 17:14-17; 1 Samuel 8:4-9). Solomon was their third king, and he had been granted “Divine Wisdom” from God (1 Kings Chapters 3 and 10). All their kings were commanded to get their “divination” from God’s Word – the Old Testament. “Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one before the priests, the Levites. And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes, that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel” (Deuteronomy 17:18-20). GOD INTENDED FOR THE LEADER OF A GOVERNMENT TO BE INFLUENCED BY GOD’S WORD! The further away from that influence government gets, the more tyrannical and oppressive that government becomes! Leaders who do not “fear the LORD” will arrogantly “be lifted above his brethren,” that is, they do not think the laws of the land apply to them. Obeying God’s Word is the only way that works, and “the right” or “the left” describe disobedience. Interestingly, those who want to obey God’s Word and the Constitution have been branded “right wingers,” when they are actually the only ones who obey the laws! “Left wingers” are completely disobedient and rebellious against God and His Word!

The Apostle Paul showed that Christians should pray for government to submit to God and let Christians follow Jesus Christ: “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:1-4). No government is “Christian,” and there is no physical “Christian Nation” on earth today, but “in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him” (Acts 10:35). AND, government that honors the LORD “must not transgress in judgment,” that is, will know how to render judgments in accord with God’s Wisdom.
