Great rewards in the new world

“All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. (Matthew 19:20-22 NIV)

O LORD our God ~ thank you dear Heavenly Father for the grace and mercy that you lavish upon all people in the world and especially to Christians who faithfully obey your beloved Son. Stir up renewed desire and commitment in the hearts of all believers so that more of the faithful will make the great commitment required of this rich young man. Prick the hearts of those who have made this great sacrifice but now look back with longing and regret. Help us to permanently know that whatever we give up in order to follow Christ Jesus will bring great rewards in the new world. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Since he had great riches, the “rich young ruler” sorrowfully away from Christ. The new world that Christ promises is available to everyone who trusts and obeys Christ as Lord. Whether rich of poor, we all have stuff keeping us from giving our whole heart to Christ. We must ask ourselves, “Do I really want to be part of the spectacular new world that is far superior than this present world?”

Sunlight of your love

Then he *(Abraham)* said, “Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there.” He answered, “For the sake of ten I will not destroy it.” And the LORD went his way, when he had finished speaking to Abraham, and Abraham returned to his place. (Genesis 18:32-33 ESV)

O LORD God, our dear Heavenly Father ~ thank you Father for the sunlight of your love that shines brighter each day as we put our wholehearted trust in your beloved Son who shows us the way to eternal life. Help all faithful Christians to have the boldness of our faith to petition you as Abraham gives a great example. Lord, if it is your will, save America from the self-destruction of Sodom by raising up faithful leaders in the Church, our families, the courts, the schools and every institution making and defending just laws. Restore knowledge of your word among those who lead. We pray with hope in Jesus name, Amen.

Trembling emotions

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.* (John 13:1 ESV)

O LORD my God ~ most holy, kind, and loving Heavenly Father, we come most respectively before your presence with trembling emotions due to our own human weaknesses. Change all your people who obey Jesus as Lord so that we will never be embarrassed to say we love each other and take actions based upon our love that is patterned after the love you have for all people. Drive away the bitter hatred that has taken over the hearts and minds of many people including those who wear the name Christian. Forgive us dear Lord and help us to be quick to forgive others. We fervently pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Prayers for peace

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8 ESV)

Almighty God, our dear Heavenly Father ~ we offer you the highest possible praise from our hearts and voices on this new day. Hear our prayers for peace and orderly behavior among all faithful followers of Christ Jesus as Lord. Give us your pure wisdom so that we will think, speak and write clear thoughts that will provoke more brotherly love in the Church and in our nation and the world. Help all who are in positions of authority to speak and act with the kindness and patience that we see in your actions toward all mankind. Forgive us Lord, for the times when we have hastily blurted out words before taking care to consider whether it hurts or heals. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Deep and abiding respect

Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.(Genesis 2:24 KJV)

O LORD God, our dear Heavenly Father ~ thank you for the precious gift of life that makes our mortal flesh a living being. Help every person to open their hearts to your eternal truth about the beauty and sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman. Bring shame to all those who espouse that it is possible for two people of the same sex to be married. Bring back deep and abiding respect for the Spirit inspired Scriptures that contain words that lead to eternal life. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Joy on the last day

But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:3 ESV)

Most holy and wise Heavenly Father ~ thank you for the exhilarating gift of life that brings joy on the last day of this year. Bless all sincere followers of Christ Jesus as Lord to seek ways to be united in truth and love. Protect your children of faith from the deceitfulness of Satan, the enemy of all people. Help us, Lord, to be more careful about what we think about each day so that we will not relent in the true faith of Christ. We fervently pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

More of Christ’s perfect wisdom

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 ESV)

O LORD MY GOD ~ Thank you dear Heavenly Father for the power of your grace and mercy toward all people especially those who love and obey Christ Jesus. Give us more of the perfect wisdom of Christ that Paul of Tarsus demonstrated in his life as a servant of our Lord. Help all servants of the Gospel to remain strong under duress, and instead of complaining, keep growing in the strength that comes from the power of Christ. Hold up the hands of leaders in the Church who stand by those servants of the Word when they are treated shamefully. We pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Keeping distance from Christ

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:6-7 ESV)

Hallelujah Oh LORD our God ~ dear Heavenly Father, from the depths of our hearts we express our amazement that the Maker of the heavens and earth counts us worthy to become your children by wholehearted faith in your beloved Son. Open the minds eye of those who prefer to keep their distance from Christ as Lord because they prefer the pleasures of sin above the joys of the higher spiritual experience of belonging to Christ with positive hope of eternal life in indescribable places that Christ is preparing for those who love and obey him. Bless everyone abundantly who choose to give bountifully to the work of the Church in spreading the Gospel message to all the world and doing deeds of kindness that honor Christ our Lord. We fervently pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

The most expensive gift

And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, just as he said, these forty-five years since the time that the Lord spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. And now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming. (Joshua 14:10-11 ESV)

O LORD our God ~ we praise your most holy and righteous Son along with other faithful Christians on this new Lord’s Day. Thank you dear Heavenly Father for making the most expensive gift that has ever been given and you gave your beloved Son to all the world. Open the hearts of seekers of salvation to the Good News about Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior for all people. Give us renewed courage like that of Joshua and Caleb, since many of us are at that time when society wants to put us out to pasture. Help all seniors in the Church to rise up and continue doing deeds that help spread the gospel and deeds of kindness that verify our faith in Christ who went about doing good while on this earth. We pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Church sleeping

Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:13-16 ESV)

Dear Heavenly Father, our only true and living God ~ thank you for this new day and the many opportunities to share our knowledge of and faith in your beloved Son as our Lord and Savior. Wake up your Church that is sleeping in so many places around the world and completely unengaged in telling people the story of Christ our Lord who brings forgiveness of sins and the very real hope of eternal life. Open the minds and mouths of every Christian so that our tongues will no longer be stuck to the roof of our mouths, but more people will learn about Christ through the confessions of sincere believers. We ardently pray in the precious name of Christ Jesus, Amen.

Wisdom to workers

Command and teach these things. Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. (1 Timothy 4:11-12 ESV)

Most holy and awesome God, our dear Heavenly Father ~ thank you Lord for blessing all people with your constant supply of material and spiritual blessings. Help those skeptics who take advantage of your blessings, to repent and turn to you for eternal life. Give wisdom to all workers for the Lord so that all their courageous works will be tempered with love, sound speech, unwavering faith, and an exemplary righteous life. Forgive us for times when we were not the best example to others and help us to remain strong until the end by forgiving others who have wronged us. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

The power of love

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” (Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV)

All glorious Father in heaven ~ thank you for the power of your great love that draws souls that may be lost in darkness to the comfort of your loving arms of forgiveness as we trust and obey your beloved Son. Brighten our hopes in your great love. Diminish the negative influence of those who live and breath hatred toward the blessed Gospel message that brings salvation. Your name above all names

“In those days and in that time, declares the Lord, the people of Israel and the people of Judah shall come together, weeping as they come, and they shall seek the Lord their God. They shall ask the way to Zion, with faces turned toward it, saying, ‘Come, let us join ourselves to the Lord in an everlasting covenant that will never be forgotten.’ (Jeremiah 50:4-5 ESV)

O LORD my God, dear Heavenly Father ~ we hallow your name that is above all names. Grant more spiritual wisdom to all faithful followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Help us Lord to take more positive action in the way we use the gifts that you bestow upon those who follow Christ. Bless Zion, the glorious church of Christ that He purchased with his own blood and died on that cruel cross to obtain forgiveness of our sins for everyone who trusts and obeys the blessed gospel message of Christ our Lord. Watching over my soul

By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. (Psalm 42:8 ESV)

O LORD my God ~ thank you dear Heavenly Father for watching over my soul and the souls of my loved ones during the night and the new day dawning. Lead us by your tender and compassionate Fatherly love that is greater than any love human beings ever heard. Put a song in my heart on this new day so that others may see the joy in my heart over the greatness of your salvation for a sinner like me. Silence the loud noise of the cynical unbelievers who hope to shame Christians for our trust in the Savior. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
