Prosperity common to all believers

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. (3 John 2 NKJV)

O LORD, God of my salvation ~ many glorious things are spoken about the worldwide un-denominational church of God founded by your beloved Son in whom we trust for mortal and eternal life. Help us to enjoy the prosperity that is common to all believers even in times of persecution. Stifle the influence of those who falsely espouse that prosperity for believers applies only to physical and monetary success. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Perform greater works

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. (1 Peter 4:7-9 ESV)

O LORD my God, thank you dear Heavenly Father for the brightness of your everlasting love on this new day. Lead all believers in Christ as Lord to perform greater works that demonstrate our sincere love and respect for one another. Save the Church from the worldly ambitions of those who are self-promoters and do things that bring personal glory and financial gain. Open our eyes to see the harvest of dying souls waiting for evangelists to share your Word and encourage sinners to receive Christ as Lord by obeying the blessed gospel. New day arriving

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, (1 Peter 1:3-4 ESV)

Almighty God, our awesome Heavenly Father ~ thank you, dear Lord, for this new day that is arriving with evidence that our hopes are not in vain. Bless your people who obediently and with great expectations follow Christ Jesus as Lord. Silence the voices of those who dare to pour cold water on this highest calling of human life – the eternal life that is our right to hope for, as we keep in step with the leading of our Savior. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Humble prayers

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, (Titus 3:3-5 ESV)

O LORD my God ~ hear the humble prayers of your people in need on this new day. Thank you, Father, for granting us another opportunity to demonstrate the newness of life that we have in Christ by doing deeds of kindness as we seek and find opportunities to serve others. Awaken the consciousness of those who preach, teach and comment on your word to lift up the immutable commands and promises regarding being born of water and the Spirit in water baptism. Bless all leaders of the church with your pure wisdom and guidance to ensure that more souls will surrender to your good and perfect plan of salvation by trusting and obeying Christ as Lord. On our best day

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. (1 Timothy 1:15 ESV)

O LORD my God ~ in whom we can come each day with fresh expectations because you have done and continue to do so much to remain our rock and refuge. Remind everyone who assumes the awesome responsibility of sharing the gospel message of truth and love. On our best day, we are merely broken and shattered clay jars that Christ has redeemed from sin are repairing and allowing us to shine again to the glory of our precious Lord and Savior. Bring us down to our knees when we behave with an air of arrogance that is unbecoming of a good and faithful servant of the Lord. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Continue to shower people with love

King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you do believe.” Then Agrippa said to Paul, “You almost persuade me to become a Christian.” (Acts 26:27-28 NKJV)

O God Most High ~ we come before you on this new Lord’s Day with confidence that you will continue to shower people who follow your Son with your steadfast love and faithfulness. Thank you, dear Father, for giving us your trustworthy Spirit-inspired writings that lead us on the path to Heaven, as we remain faithful to Christ Jesus. Give wisdom to all who use the Word to teach, preach, plead and pray that lost souls will obey the blessed gospel of Christ while time remains. Awaken the latent minds of those who continue to put off making the decision to eagerly accept Jesus with a sincere heart. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Hard-hearted to love and grace

To this day I have had the help that comes from God, and so I stand here testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would come to pass: that the Christ must suffer and that, by being the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light both to our people and to the Gentiles.” (Acts 26:22-23 ESV)

Our Father who is in heaven ~ hallowed is your name. Spread the borders of the Kingdom of Christ to all the nations. Raise up leaders in the Church who will make bold progress in training and sending out those who will teach the truth in love. Help them to establish and strengthen local churches according to the will of Christ our Lord. Open the blind eyes of those who have become hard-hearted to your message of love and grace that is for all people. Expose the enemies of the gospel by the lucid light that shines on the pathway to heaven. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Putting off baptism

And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’ (Acts 22:16 NKJV)

Our Father in heaven, your name is holy in our hearts and we hope that all people now living will call upon you today with their needs, distresses and praise for your goodness and mercy. Help us, Lord, as we implore others to trust and obey Jesus Christ whose shed blood washes away the sins of the faithful. Help those who have been putting off baptism for whatever reason to heed the teaching of our blessed Savior that he gave the apostles and is now part of your Spirit-inspired word for all to see and know what to do. Kindness that never stops flowing

Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness;you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed youwith the oil of gladness beyond your companions; (Psalm 45:6-7 ESV)

O LORD my God, have mercy upon us on this new day as we give you thanks from the depths of our hearts for all the kindness that never stops flowing to us from your river of love. Give us the more of your pure wisdom so that we will clearly discern the difference between righteousness and corruptness that is spread over the earth because of sin. Anoint all faithful followers or Christ the Lord with a spirit of joyful service in the Kingdom. Help us as we seek more effective ways to humbly teach others about the Way of light compared to the dead-end way of darkness. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Cause it to rain

So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. (Acts 17:22-23 ESV)

O LORD my great and mighty God of all that exists! Thank you, dear Father, in heaven for opening the minds of those souls who ponder over the great things of this universe and human life. Make a wide-open door for people who do not yet know the truth that your beloved Son is Lord and Christ. Help your people to announce clearly that He who brings salvation for all people on earth must be acknowledged from hearts ready to repent and turn to Jesus as Lord. We know that all things are possible for you O God, so we boldly ask that you cause it to rain on places where our brothers and sisters are in great danger from fires and droughts. Give wisdom to the President of the United States as well as leaders of all other nations so that the peace of Christ will be allowed to flourish on earth according to your time table. Forgive our sinful thoughts, words, and deeds as we, in turn, forgive the ones who have done us the greatest harm. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

To give and receive love

As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. (1 Timothy 6:17 ESV)

O LORD my God ~ thank you dear heavenly Father for granting us life and energy to participate in another Lord’s Day activities of worship that brings honor and glory to our risen Lord Jesus Christ. Help those who deliberately absent themselves from meeting with the church to come home to give and receive the love you have given to us. Give us wisdom so that we are able to know how much is enough and put the excess to good use in the Kingdom of Christ before our time on earth is done. Shame those who only give to needy causes from their surplus in order to receive some tax benefits or earthly glory. Remind us daily Lord that when we breathe that last breath, what we have belongs to someone else. Open our hearts to the cries of those needing to hear the gospel and to poor widows and orphans. Open the eyes of reason

So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians. (Acts 11:25-26 ESV)

Almighty God, our Father in heaven ~ along with other people of faith, we hallow your holy existence on your throne in heaven. Help us, Lord, to love righteous deeds in the same way Christ leads us to be doers of your enlightening word. Open the eyes of reason to many people who claim Christ as Lord, to worship and live daily as worthy of the name Christian. Slam-dunk the politically-charged efforts of those who rally followers behind denominational names instead of the name of Christ Jesus, who alone deserves our praise and devotion. More than humans normally do

“This Jesus is ‘the stone that was rejected by you, the builders;it has become the cornerstone.’ There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:11-12 NRSV)

Hear our prayers O LORD my God in whom we trust each day and night! Help us dear Heavenly Father to do more than humans normally do to show love for one another. Thank you, God, for our salvation that is not only for us but available to all people around the world who will trust and obey Christ Jesus as Lord. Shame those individuals and organizations who exalt and worship mere earthlings instead of extolling Christ who gives life now and for all eternity to everyone who trusts and obeys his glorious gospel message. What motivates us into action

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, (Philippians 2:9-10 ESV)

Our dear Father in heaven ~ thank you Lord for the way you teach us to love one another by making the greatest sacrifice, so that we will learn to purposely take action to demonstrate that the examples of Christ are what motivates us into action. Strengthen the faith and love of the brothers and sisters at West Freeway Church of Christ as they struggle in the aftermath of being assaulted during their hour of worship. Give us wisdom Lord, so that we honor Christ in all our actions and conversations. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Greater zeal and love

And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:10-11 ESV)

Our Father who is in heaven, may your name be hallowed in the hearts of more people on this new day. Thank you for the peace, love, joy, faith and hope that dwells in our soul as we contemplate the emotions of our brothers and sisters in the first century who witnessed Christ Jesus ascend back to his eternal home in heaven. Stir up greater zeal and love for the mission of the church to share the gospel message with those who blindly struggle to live without Christ. Guard our inheritance as we ourselves anticipate that glorious day when our Lord visibly returns. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
