Our emotions are mixed

Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:1-2 ESV)

O LORD God Almighty ~ hear the prayers of all people who love and obey your beloved Son as Lord and King. Our emotions are mixed as we consider all the news about people becoming sick and dying from this invisible yet deadly virus. We understand that nothing in all creation is hidden from your sight – including the smallest piece of matter, or the biggest lie emanating from demonic beings devoted to Satan. Thank you, dear Lord, for the blessed gospel that brings hope of eternal life to all who hear, believe and remain obedient to Christ. Lord, we strongly desire to be able to worship and work close together with other Christians who have the same faith. Lord Jesus, according to your mighty power and will for us, overthrow this coronavirus so that the Church for which Christ died may once again assemble and encourage one another to greater works for Christ than we ever dreamed possible. Forgive us for those days when we enjoyed the freedom to assemble and instead skipped church like naughty children. We fervently implore you in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Restore respect

And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:19-21 ESV)

O LORD my God ~ thank you, dear Heavenly Father, for the wonders of your great love for all people in the world – even those who refuse to acknowledge your existence. Lord, open the eyes of faith to people who live in spiritual darkness without the hope that comes from knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Restore wholehearted respect for the Scriptures, so that people will seize this time of not having or even allowed to do their normal jobs and become serious students of your precious message that is for all people in the world. Snuff out the influence of those false leaders who throw cold water on the final authority of your Word. Cut off their voices so that young people will be able to grow up with deep respect for the Bible as the source of truth, faith, hope and love and all things that are of the utmost importance in this life in good times and bad. We fervently pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Wisdom and courage to live what we profess

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (Ephesians 5:1-2 ESV)

Our Father who is in heaven ~ your name is holy and precious to all who love and obey your beloved Son. Grant us wisdom and courage to live what we profess. Guide us as we pay more close attention to the working of your Spirit in convicting sinners as the gospel message is proclaimed to people lost in the darkness of sin. Lift up the arms of those who daily exert their strength to bring about peace and love among Christians and families. Silence the evil influence of anyone who may be suggesting that the painful and bloody sacrifice of Christ on the cross never happened, or that everyone is going to heaven even if they do not trust and obey Christ as Lord. Fervently in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Arouse the sleeping energy

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. (James 4:13-14 ESV)

O LORD my God, thank you, dear Father, in heaven, for the pure love you demonstrate for underserving humanity on each and every new day as you patiently wait for repentance to come into sincere hearts. Open the closed minds of many even today who refuse to acknowledge your beloved Son whom you have appointed over all things in heaven and earth. Arouse the sleeping energy among the Church for which Christ died so that more attention will be given to saving souls who are presently doomed for a hopeless eternity because of their refusal to trust and obey Jesus as Lord. Help the people who are responding to the physical needs of their neighbors even at risk to their own health during this coronavirus pandemic. Protect the minds of believers so that we will not allow daily news events to drag us down into the negative attitude of people without hope. Give us wisdom during this time as we press hard to control our emotions. We pray fervently in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Make this virus go away

When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:13-14 ESV)

O LORD my God ~ hear the cries of your people who trust in your great love for humanity and especially those who love your beloved Son. We are not even certain of what to ask as we consider the near plague proportions of the current coronavirus. We love you Lord and we trust in your will for this planet and the future of all people. Give wisdom and courage to all who trust in Christ, who has been given all authority. Give us the courage to use all our skills to help poor widows and orphans and our neighbors who may live near or far away. According to your will, please make this virus go away and if not, increase our faith so that we may not be moved as we hear how this coronavirus is spreading. We ardently pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

An optimistic eye

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9 ESV)

(1 Pedro 2:9 NVI)

O LORD my God ~ hear our prayers and requests, dear heavenly Father who dwells in marvelous and unapproachable light. Bless your chosen race of Christians, wherever we may be found on this earth you assigned for us to live, in good times and harsh. Grant us the mental and spiritual strength to continue thinking and acting with an optimistic eye toward our fellow human beings and especially toward those who belong to Christ our Lord. Give wisdom to all the governing authorities in America and other nations so that we may live in peace even while going through physical and mental stagnation. Help us to walk in the light of truth and love. We plead in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Without prejudice

“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor. (1 Corinthians 10:23-24 ESV)

Most holy and awesome God, our dear Father in heaven ~ thank you, Lord, for the amazing grace and mercy that comes daily without prejudice to all creation. Grant us wisdom to more fully grasp the freedom of conscience that is inherent in all followers of Christ. Help us to be engaged each day in thinking about and working for the betterment of our friends and neighbors instead of selfishly wasting valuable time on spoiling ourselves. We pray and wait for your help in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

We pretended to know more

If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God. (1 Corinthians 8:2-3 ESV)

Almighty God, dear Father in heaven ~ we hallow your name that is above every name. Thank you Lord, for generously supplying all of our basic needs. There are so many mysterious things that exist in the world you have given us to inhabit and rule over it as human beings. Forgive us for the times when we have pretended to know more than we can possibly know without the wisdom of Christ the Lord. Protect us from the deadly virus that is a present to our lives and even our basic freedoms. Send us medical workers who believe in you and will use the wisdom you give them by your Spirit to search, research and discover a cure for this virus that threatens all people. We understand that our days are numbered. But, we ask that you give us loving hearts for one another as we look for that day when Christ Jesus will suddenly appear. On the cusp of falling

All the men and women, the people of Israel, whose heart moved them to bring anything for the work that the Lord had commanded by Moses to be done brought it as a freewill offering to the Lord. (Exodus 35:29 ESV)

O LORD my God – hear our prayer dear Father in heaven as we come into your presence with songs on our lips and in our hearts. Lift up the countenance of those who are on the cusp of falling from your grace because of unbelief based upon current events in various parts of the world. Grant us the wisdom of Christ so that we will be a part of those brothers and sisters in Christ who willingly bring the best of what we have in order to spread the borders of the Kingdom of Christ. Shame those who have repeatedly held back the best for themselves instead of offering the Lord our first-fruits. Help us Lord to discover the blessings of giving. Prayer: Leaning toward bitterness

“If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. (Luke 6:32 ESV)

Our Father who is in heaven ~ thank you, dear Lord, for making it possible for people in all the nations to call upon your holy name. O Lord God, help everyone today whose faith is wavering or leaning toward bitterness because of the current pandemic sweeping across our nation and the world. Forgive us Father for times when we strived to build friendships with people only if it would benefit our agenda. Replace such childish thinking and behavior with the wisdom of your pure love that seeks our joy and peace. We fervently pray in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Exhilarating sights, sounds, and scents

Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive his commendation from God. I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. (1 Corinthians 4:5-6 ESV)

(1 Cô-rinh-tô 4:5-6 New Vietnamese Bible)

Most holy and awesome God, our dear Heavenly Father ~ thank you Lord for the exhilarating sights, sounds, and scents that remind us of your abiding love for all creatures who love to sing you praises. Be with everyone who is doing the best they can to live according to your most holy and perfect word that directs us to walk in the steps of the Savior. His perfect plan

For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11 ESV)

O LORD my God ~ we cry out to you from the depths of our hearts on this new day on which we positively expect more blessings from your merciful kindness to those who trust and obey your beloved Son who offers eternal life to all who obey his perfect plan. Give an extra measure of the perfect wisdom of Christ as we struggle to make sense out of the daily news regarding measures political leaders are taking in the fight against a coronavirus. Grant wisdom to all leaders in America and every nation beset by this virus. Help all faithful believers to remember that a more dangerous virus of false teaching is also sweeping the earth and if believed it will cause many to lose their home in heaven. Vast harvest fields

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:35-38 ESV)

Our most holy Father in heaven ~ bless all people in the world who hold the name of your beloved Son Jesus at the highest place in their hearts. Open our blind eyes so that we will never lose sight of the vast harvest fields that are starving physically and spiritually because not churches have leaders with the foresight to call and send reapers into those ripe harvest fields. Forgive us Lord, and help us to show tender-hearted compassion toward those now suffering from this worldwide coronavirus plague that is sending some people to their graves before they have learned the message of salvation and given an opportunity to trust and obey Christ Jesus as Lord. Help the medical workers who are risking their own safety in order to save lives. Help Christians to risk our peace and safety in order to save souls. In the precious name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Fear over this virus

We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. (Romans 15:1-2 ESV)

O LORD our God, beloved and most holy Father who is in heaven ~ hear our prayers of thanksgiving on this new day. Help those who are struggling mentally, physically, emotionally and especially spiritually during this time of so much uncertainty regarding the nature of the so-called COVID – 19 coronavirus. Help all the doctors, nurses, medical laboratory workers, and other scientific efforts to understand more clearly the nature of this threat and if possible Lord – a way to eradicate this menace from the earth. In some respects dear Father there seems to be more fear over this virus than is there was a large asteroid on a collision course with earth. Calm the fears of our leaders so they will think clearly and not be short-sighted regarding all possible methods of recovering from this disaster that impacts the lives of so many families. Lord, most of all we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus who are already searching for ways to be of greater service to one another and our neighbors nearby and far away. We pray with faith, hope, and love in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Entrance into heaven

And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28 ESV)

O LORD my God – thank you, dear Father, in heaven for the sunshine of your love that brightens the hopes of your children on a good or bad news day. Give us wisdom, as we live in such a manner that our spouse, children, grandchildren, others in my family, brothers and sisters in Christ and our neighbors and enemies will learn from our example that we intend to live out our numbered days with confidence while following the leadership of our Master – Jesus Christ. We fearfully respect the power you have to delegated to your beloved Son to grant us entrance into heaven as we remain your faithful and obedient children. Awaken the latent consciences of people who live without acknowledging that after our time on earth is done we will surely be judged.
